Berry Trapezoid Earrings
I love chandelier earrings, but often find that the larger styles are too heavy for my ears. The solution came to me one morning when I woke up with the idea of knitting a pair of earrings. After some experimenting, I came up with these Berry Trapezoids. The simple lace pattern fits the chandelier shape, and the three bobbles act as "gemstones." I added a little luxury by working with a second strand of a mohair and silk yarn throughout the pattern, but you can use any yarn you like!
These earrings are a great project for whatever piece of scrap yarn you have lying around that is simply too pretty to throw away but too small to do much of anything with. They are great for everyday wear but could also be a funky accessory for a night out. The size of the earrings can be changed by using a different weight yarn or needle size. Varying colors and fiber content can change the look as well, allowing for the creation of several pairs that are each unique. The possibilities are endless!
Size
Not applicable (size varies depending on yarn and needle choice).
Gauge
Not crucial; varies depending on yarn weight and needle size.
Materials Needed
- Scrap yarn (fingering weight or lace weight recommended).
- Optional: A second strand of mohair and silk yarn for added texture and luxury.
- Appropriate size knitting needles for the chosen yarn (small gauge for delicate look).
- 2 earring hooks.
- Small jump rings for attachment.
- Optional: Beads or embellishments for added decoration.
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Pattern Notes
The earrings are worked flat in a simple lace pattern with bobble details. Once completed, they are lightly blocked for shape, and the earring hooks are attached using small jump rings. This is a great project for experimenting with different fiber textures and colors.
